Los Angeles Culinary Experience

The good thing about living in Los Angeles is that you can never run out of places to eat. There are just that many restaurants/cafes you can pick and choose from. LA food has the best of everything - Asian, Western, Mediterranean, regular or fine dining.

Here are some of the places we went during our last visit:

#1 Fleming's Steakhouse
We had the pleasure dining here for New Year's Eve. It was a last minute plan because my parents are not the type to be celebrating New Year. In fact, I was surprised they agreed to have a NYE dinner. Fleming's Steakhouse provide exceptional service and even ornamented the dining table.  Steaks were cooked perfectly and dessert was heavenly. Our dessert, chocolate lava cake, was huge that it was shared among the 4 four of us. One of the best lava cake I have tasted. YUMMMM!

The total cost is $400 (tip included) which is a good price considering it was New Year's eve and we had one bottle of red wine and ate steaks.

FILET MIGNON & NORTH ATLANTIC LOBSTER TAILS WITH DRAWN BUTTER
We even opened one bottle of red wine!
CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE - Prolly one of the best I have tasted.

#2 Pa Ord Noodles
This is one of my favorite thai restaurants in LA. There will always be Indonesians eating there. For Indonesians, this restaurant is known for their Thai Ice Tea and Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork over rice. The whole meal will cost about $13 (thai tea, entree, tax and tip included)

One of the best Thai Ice Tea - The taste is well balanced between the sweetness, milkiness and the thai tea flavor. Not too sweet and not too milky.

Chinese Broccoli with Crispy Pork over rice - you can request for extra pork for additional $3/$5 and fried egg for $1. The pork is so cripsy that you can hear the crunch when you bite into it.
#3 Santouka Ramen
Santouka Ramen is located inside a Japanese supermarket named Mitsuwa. Mitsuwa has both Japanese supermarket and food court but most people would flock to Santouka Ramen. Truthfully, there are many other better ramens but most Indonesians love this Ramen. I usually order the Shio Ramen with pork on the side. The quality of the pork is so good and fattening that it will melt in your mouth. The Shio Ramen broth is so thick with fats that if you leave it untouched for a minute, you could see the oil hardening at the top.

TOKUSEN TORONIKU RAMEN - SHIO RAMEN WITH PORK ON THE SIDE WITH EXTRA PORK OVER SIDE AND EGG.
 #4 In n Out
In n Out is a fast food burger chain. I am not a big fan of either fast food or burgers. However, this one is different. In-N-Out burger uses fresh ingredients to make their burgers and fries. You can taste the freshness of their food when you bite into it. The fast food chain caters to health conscious people - they can order lettuce wrapped burger in place of the buns. Another plus point is that they have secret menus that you can order from.
